Dimapur, Nov. 11 (EMN): Khiamniungan Students’ Union Dimapur (KSUD) commemorated its 25th anniversary on the theme “Surge in unison” on November 11 at Agri Expo, Dimapur, with MLA P Longon as the chief guest and S Chonta, member of Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) as the guest of honour.

Chonta, in his speech, reminded that major land of the Khiamniungan community was transferred into Myanmar without the consent of the community. However, he has expressed elation as the community is working in unison despite the land being bifurcated between two countries.

“We should not consider that we are living and divided into two countries, but believe that two countries are living in one place in unison and the NGOs must work towards maintaining peace in the border area,” Chonta said.

The bureaucrat, while paying homage to the pioneers of the KSUD, reminded the students community that jubilee is a time to forgive and forget the past bitterness.

“The jubilee theme itself conveys message of oneness and therefore the community should believe in the spirit of oneness,” encouraged the guest of honour.

Longon, in his address, urged the students to involve themselves in social activities so that they connect with people and not confine themselves only in their academic. Education, he said, should not be confined only on academic knowledge but leave room for survival while getting connected with the world by engaging and strive to be a quality leader and not quantity.

“The KSUD 25th anniversary holds a significant day in my life as I celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary this year,” expressed Longon.

“It is time to retrospect where we have gone wrong and achieve, and rectify the wrongs and take our achievements forward,” stated the legislator.
