Diphu, August 18 (EMN): Karbi Students Association (KSA) Inglongpho has brought together all likeminded organisations to a reconciliation meeting to share views and opinions as to how the Autonomous State demand could be taken as a common agenda. The meeting was held here at KSA central executive committee office, Rongtheang along with leaders from Joint Action Committee for Autonomous State (JACAS), Karbi Anglong & North Cachar Hills Autonomous State Demand Committee (KANCHASDCOM), Karbi Longri & NC Liberation Front (KLNLF).
President, KANCASDCOM Ajit Timung said “what we have been demanding for long is Autonomous State and if likeminded non political organisations can come together then it will be stronger for the issue”. Timung said the KANCHASDCOM fully support the common platform that is being discussed in the meeting today.
Chairman, JACAS Khorsing Teron also expressed that if the likeminded organisations could come together than it would gain more strength in taking up the matter. Only one organisation cannot pursue but required collective efforts, he said.
However President, Karbi Lammet Amei Suren Kramsa said to opt for legal support. “In a democratic country there are three main pillars to govern the nation which are Legislative, Executive and Judiciary he said. He added “now in Karbi Anglong the three pillars are constituted, there is the elected body as Legislative, the KAAC Secretariat as Executive body and recently the Judiciary has been constituted. “We can knock at the door of the Supreme Court for seeking legal support as even after having the provision in the constitution Article 244 (A) the Central government deprived us,” Kramsa pointed out.
Chairman, KLNLF P. Dilli said the KLNLF is stilling in the process of talks with the Central Government on separate state issue. Dilli said a common platform is being search, where likeminded organisations can work together to pressurise the Central government on statehood issue. The KLNLF will also be part of it, he said. Former JACAS Convenor and Retired IAS JI Kathar who spoke in the meeting said “if work together than it will be an advantage for the organisations having the common issue of Autonomous State”.
While talking to Eastern Mirror, the president of KSA Bijoy Bey informed about the resolution adopted from the meeting. He said the meeting urged the likeminded organisations of KANCASDCOM, JACAS and KLNLF to come forward for the common platform in working together for the cause of Autonomous State demand. The organisations will meet again on September 2 to discuss about more possibilities of working together through a common platform.
