KPC to hold election on May 17

Dimapur, May 15 (EMN): The general election to the Kohima Press Club (KPC) executive council for the tenure 2019-22 will be held on May 17 at the NSF conference hall from 10:30 am.

Election would be held for the posts of president, vice president, general secretary, joint Secretary and treasurer.

In a joint press release, chief election commissioner, Oken Jeet Sandham, and the election commissioners, Mhalezolie Kire, and HK Chishi stated nominations would be opened from 11 am – 11:30 am, scrutiny from 11:30 am -11:45 am, withdrawal of candidature from 11:45 am – 12 noon, and polling through secret ballot from 12:15 – 1 pm.

Regular members registered with the club for three years or more would be eligible to contest for any post of the executive council. All the regular members would be eligible to vote.

It added that in case of a tie in the election to any of the aforementioned posts, the election commission would have voting right.

The election commission appealed to all members for smooth conduct of the election and further requested all the members to attend, witness and exercise their right to vote.
