Dimapur, October 27 : The Konyak Union has claimed “dearth of the administrative officers within Mon district” and has demanded redress.

The union issued a press release on Thursday stating to have submitted a representation to the Nagaland Government for “immediate attention.”

The union asserted that the Konyak community was the ‘most populated tribe in the state of Nagaland’ besides Mon district being “totally isolated from its state itself.”
The union has listed out a number of demands for the authorities to address.

Among its demands, the group has demanded immediate posting of an additional deputy commissioner (ADC) for Mon town. ‘Mon district headquarters has been functioning without additional deputy commissioner for the past five months or more. The administrative duties and assignment of one of the biggest districts in the state has been left unattended or could not pursue it efficiently,’ the union stated.

Likewise, the union demanded “immediate posting” of another ADC for Naginimora. ‘Naginimora is one of the oldest towns in the state which was established by the East India Company. It is also a historical town as well as the commercial hub in the state,’ the union stated.

“Today, the state government is all geared up for the town council election but Naginimora is left without its nodal administrative officers (ADC) to execute it. Moreover, the inter-state border feuds are unpredictable. Such incidences and situation should be seriously pondered upon by the state government,” the group stated.

The union also listed out a ‘requirement’ for two subdivision officers (civil), two extra assistant commissioners besides deployment of ‘sufficient / requisite officers in all the administrative units.’
