Dimapur, April 13 (EMN): Konyak Students’ Union Kohima (KSUK), Longchang Area Union Kohima (LAUK), and the Kohima unit of Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) have strongly condemned the alleged assault of a minor girl by a couple in Kohima.

In a joint statement, Konyak Students’ Union Kohima (KSUK) and Longchang Area Union Kohima (LAUK) have strongly condemned the ‘brutal’ act of the couple in inflicting physical harm thereby rendering her with severe bruise and scar.

Stating that such torture and assault meted out against the victim cannot be tolerated, the two organisations have appealed the appropriate authority to immediately initiate legal course of action and impose befitting punishment as per the law of the land.

KSUK president, Hongpe Konyak, and the LAUK president, Pelü Konyak, warned the organisations would not be held responsible for any eventualities if the concerned authorities fail to comply with its demands.

The two organisations have appealed to all the right thinking citizens to condemn such inhuman act and requested the law enforcing authority to deliver justice to the victim without delay and to award stringent punishment to the culprits.

In a separate statement, Kohima unit of Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK), has vehemently condemned the physical assault of one minor girl of 13 years, who was brought into the family as a baby sitter.

The organisation statement claimed that the victim was assaulted on false accusation of stealing edible items and cash.

The organisation has termed it ‘unfortunate’ that cases of child trafficking for domestic help and baby-sitting was on the rise at alarming rate despite awareness campaign propagated by KSUK, KU and KNSK.

KSUK stated that its attempt to register domestic helpers went without much success due to non-cooperation from parents of trafficked children, traffickers, and the citizens from Kohima, Dimapur and other districts.

The unit was surprised to find the accused wife verbally abusing the officials from various organisations even in front of The Child Helpline officials and police.

Meanwhile, the organisation thanked KSUK and KU for their undying support for the helpless children, Child Help line and North Police Station for their dedicated service.
