T Khel continues to lead in medal tally on Day-2

Kohima, Jan. 16 (EMN): Tsütuonuomia-Khel dominated the athletics events as they claimed 31 medals altogether on the second day with 17 gold, 10 silver and 4 bronze at the ongoing 63rd Kohima Village Sports Association (KVSA) meet here at the Kohima local ground on Tue.
Dapfhütsumia-Khel is in the second position with a total tally of 14 medals (3 gold, 2 silver, and 9 bronze). Pfuchatsumia-Khel is placed in the third position with 18 medals (2 gold, 8 silver, 8 bronze) and Lhisemia-Khel in fourth with 4 medals (one gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze) at the end of Day-2.
The sports discipline such as 100 meters race (men and women), 200m race (men and women), 400m race (men), 3000m race (men), 4X100m relay race (men and women) javelin throw (women) triple jump (men), shot put (women), marked day-2 and also brought to an end the athletic events of the KVSA meet. Eight records were also re-written in athletics events at the ongoing 63rd KVSA meet.
While in the first match in men’s volleyball, L.Khel beat P.Khel by 3-2 sets and the second match between D.Khel and T.Khel will be played on Wednesday.
On the third day, starting from 8 am onwards, the sporting events will be marked by football (men), basketball (men and women) and volleyball (women). While at the indoor stadium Kohima, table tennis and badminton will begin from 4 pm onwards.
It may be mentioned that the Golden-throated barbet (Pezhie-ra) is the mascot of the meet which has been christened as ‘Kekuokeyho’, which translated is ‘mightier and stronger’. 400 sportspersons representing the four khels namely Lhisemia, Tsiituonuomia, Dapfhiitsumia, and Pfuchatsumia are taking part in the week-long sports event which will go conclude on Jan. 19.
Eight new records at the KVSA meet
Eight new records were set in various athletic events from day one and two of the ongoing 63rd Kohima Village Sports Meet held here at Kohima local ground.
Shot put (men)
Salhoukuolie Kire (D. Khel) broke his own record set in 2016 in shot put. He threw the shot put to a distance of 12.10 meters as against his own record of 11.00 meters in 2016.
Discus throw (men)
Khrielasakuo Keretsu (D.Khel) broke the ten’s year-old record in discuss throw set by Kedilelhou Belho (T.Khel) in 2008. He threw a distance 34.52 meters bettering the previous record (34.28 meters) of Kedilelhou Belho by 0.24 meters.
100 meters race (women)
Kekhrieneinuo Solo (T.Khel) produced her best as she run the 100 meters race in 14.35 seconds eclipsing the 24-year-old record set in 1994 by Neingunuo Belho (T.Khel) by 0.05 seconds. Neingunuo Belho time 14.40 seconds in 1994 KVSA meet.
200 meters race (women)
Dziesengunuo Solo (T.Khel) also stunned the 24-year old record in 200 meters race by 0.35 seconds, with the best timing of 29.93 seconds. Earlier the record was set by Neingunuo Belho (30: 28 seconds) in 1994.
4×100 meters relay race (men)
Keviprhru Sekhose, Neiketoulie Belho, Medoneituo Sekhose and Menuokhrielie Solo run home in styles clocking 48.31 seconds in the 4x 100 relay race beating the previous record set in 2000 by 0.38 seconds. They beat the likes of L. Khel quartet Astiiu Miachieo, Rukuobeilhou Dziivichii, Vizopralie Dziivichii, Petekhriezo Dziivichii timing of 49.09 seconds set in 2000 KVSA meet.
4×100 meter relay race (women)
The women’s T.Khel Relay Squad comprising of Dziesengunuo Solo, Kekhrieneinuo Solo, Neikesonuo Belho and Keneizenuo Suohu, combined together script another history beating the 24-year-old record by 1.19 seconds in 4x 100 relay race for women. They clocked 1 minute.15 seconds. The earlier record stood at 1 minute 01.34 second held by Neingunuo Belho, Neiphrehunuo Belho, Ateiu Sekhose, Vilangunuo Solo (T Khel ) in 1995.
4×200 meter relay race (men)
Menuokhrielie Solo, Medoneituo Sekhose, Keviphru Sekhose, Neiketoulie Belho (T Khel) set a new record of 1:43:34 minutes in 4×200 meters rally race against the old record set by T Khel quartet of 1.44.19 minutes in 2012.
Triple jump (men)
Keviphru Sekhose (T. Khel) set a new record in the triple jump by 0.34 meters breaking the 23-year-old record set by Khrielakuolie Suohu (T Khel) in 1995. Khrielakuolie Suohu new record was 12.73 meter earlier set by Khrielakuolie Suohu 12.39 meters.
