Kohima peer group celebrates golden jubilee

Kohima, March 16 (EMN): A peer group called Khrietho Peli No. 11 (roughly translated in English known as Friendship Peer group) from Kohima village celebrated its golden jubilee ‘Kiahe Rütso’ cum Sekrenyi festival at P Khel, Kohima village, on March 16.
The celebration was graced by Veneipra Pienyü, Head GB of P Khel, president of Kohima District GB Association and finance secretary of Nagaland GB Federation, as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Pienyü has stressed on the importance of preserving and promoting Naga cultural traditions and heritage particularly for the upcoming generation. He expressed apprehension that Nagas might lose their identity and root with the change of time and infiltration of western culture.
He has appreciated the peer group for their efforts in upholding and promoting the age-old cultural heritage through its various activities.
It may be mentioned that Khrietho Peli No. 11 was formed in the year 1987 with 103 members. At present, it has 86 members with 50 female and 36 male.
Menuolhoulie Mechülho, president of Khrietho Peli No 11, said since its formation, the group has been involved in various activities promoting cultural heritage through folk songs and dances in different platforms. He informed that the group has also been featured in National Geography Channel too.
Marking its celebration, the peer group would inaugurate its jubilee monolith with Viluo-o Rutsa, treasurer of Angami Public Organisation, as the chief guest at Peli Badze, P Khel on March 28.
