Kiruphema, May 22 (EMN): The Kiruphema Youth Organisation (KYO) has appealed the state government to urgently repair and widen the road leading to Kiruphema from Peducha which goes via Shalom Bible Seminary, and also towards CRPF camp, Sechü Zubza.

Following the major landslide near Peducha, all the lighter vehicles have been diverted towards alternative routes which lead to Kiruphema (Basa/Bawe) via SBS or CRPF camp.

Making it known that the alternate road towards Kiruphema village is narrow and also in a deplorable condition, the KYO appealed for government’s intervention at the earliest. A release appended by KYO today cited their apprehensions that the narrow road, if not repaired and widened, may become risky for vehicles to travel.

“The State government should make necessary repairing works and also widen the narrow portions of this ‘by-pass’ road,” said the release adding that “the youth body will assist in whatever way possible for the safety of the road and also to create public’s convenience.”

With the road condition worsening day by day, the KYO feared that the road, if not attended early, may face a time where it will not be able to bear the heavy traffic anymore. And if such cases arise, the youth body has cautioned that they will go to the extent of blocking the passage of vehicles to ply on this route and will repair the same road at their own expenses with their available resources.

It may be mentioned that the KYO along with the support of Gayatri Projects Limited carried out a mass social work to repair the road under its jurisdiction between Peducha and Kiruphema (Basa/Bawe). A similar social work was also carried out by the Sechüma Youth Organisation within its jurisdiction today.

Informing that the day’s social work was the first phase, the KYO release further said that the effort was to widen the road and also repair the deteriorating road which will lead to the convenience of the public at large.

Meanwhile, the KYO has cautioned the concerned company not to dump soil within its jurisdiction anymore without consulting the youth body. Kiruphema’s jurisdiction stretches from River Noumvürü, near Bamboo hotel till River Dierü, near Essar petrol pump, connecting Sechü Zubza.

It has further appealed the concerned construction company to assess the losses caused by the work under Kiruphema jurisdiction both below and above the road and to compensate the affected properties at the earliest, moreover to execute the construction work with safety and preventive measures.

The youth body has assured all possible help to the concerned authorities, while it also requested the public, particularly the VIPs to co-operate in easing the traffic problems.

Helpline for travellers affected by landslides under Kiruphema’s jurisdiction: 8730953383, 8974343540, 9862667194 & 8730877857.
