Kohima hosts first clinical dental implant training in NE

Dimapur, Dec. 17 (EMN): A renowned implant company Nobel Biocare of Sweden has for the first time in the entire north eastern region, conducted training on ‘clinical dental implant’ programme in Kohima for dentists from the Northeast region.
The event was in collaboration with the Indian Dental Association Nagaland State Branch (IDANSB).
Dr. Kanir Bhatia from Mumbai, an oral implantologist and cosmetic dental surgeon, said to be ‘the one behind the smiles of famous Bollywood celebrities,’ was a mentor at the programme.
The programme was divided into two segments which stretched for six months. In the first clinical module, lectures and hand-on sessions were conducted at De Oriental Grade Hotel on Dec. 12 and the 13th, while the clinical session on advanced dental aesthetics and implant clinic was conducted on Dec. 14 and the 15th, also at Kohima.
Participant in the course varied from dental college professors, dental specialists and general dentists. Patients from Guwahati also benefited from the course, it was informed.
The vision of the clinical implant programme was to create world-class outstanding and research certification in implant dentistry, develop the next generation of premier scholars and implant dentists.
All participants would be awarded with certificates on completion of the course. Dr. Pfukrolo Koza, Periodontist and Oral Implantologist, who is also the course coordinator, expressed hope that the course would give big boost to the local dentists to be trained and give their patients the latest oral rehabilitation treatment.
