Hectic preparations are going on at Hockey ground, IG stadium, Kohima for the upcoming international show “Christmas with Boney M” scheduled for Dec. 10, which will be the only major music event in Kohima this year, stated a press release.
With the onset of Christmas season, every nook and corner of Nagaland is filled with Boney M Christmas songs and this year Kohima will witness the band live and in person led by its founding member Liz Mitchell and her line up comprising Toni Ashcroft (who replaced Bobby Farrell who died in 2010), Valerie Margaret Jacinth and Vanessa Paulette who has been touring with her since the late 80’s till date as Boney M featuring Liz Mitchell under its original record producer Frank Farian, mostly performing their hits such as Rivers of Babylon, Mary’s Boy Child, Daddy Cool, Sunny, Ma Baker, Belfast, Rasputin, Brown Girl In The Ring, to name a few.
The band is said to arrive in Kohima on Dec. 9 and expected to make their entry into the town hopefully while night bazaar is going on so that fans can get a glimpse of them and also welcome them.
The event is expected to be a Christmas family show comprising an audience of all age groups, a sizeable part of which will be the older generation. A lot of fans are also expected to arrive in Kohima from other states since this is the first time in a long while that Boney M is performing in India, after a highly billed show in Delhi was cancelled at the last moment in 2015 which was followed by a concert in Mumbai the same year, but that was rather expensive for many NE fans.
The general tickets admitting single entry is priced at Rs. 1000/- while others willing to avail parking facility and light refreshments will have to go for the Rs. 10000/- Gold Pass which will admit two adults. Children below 10 years accompanying their parents will be given free entry. Tickets will be available at the venue besides the outlets in different districts where sale is going on.
In order to ensure smooth traffic flow on the concert night, upcoming vehicles from Wokha side and those proceeding to IG stadium from High School side will be diverted towards New Secretariat through High Court junction below Merema, stated the release.
