Kohima Football League to begin today

Kohima, July 16 (EMN): The second edition of Kohima Football League (KFL) organised by Kohima Town Club will begin on Tuesday at the Kohima local ground. In the first match, defending champions Ziekezou Sporting Club will take on United 16 FC in the first league match of the tournament.

In the inaugural function, Neikiesalie Kire, advisor for Rural Development will attend the event as the special guest, while the presidential address by Dr. Viketoulie Pienyu, president KTC and tournament convernor address by Viketoulie Pienyu, convernor KFL.

In a major reshuffle for better referee and judgement in the matches, the organisers are bringing national referee headed by All India Football Federation instructor M. Joy Chandra and two associates from All Manipur Football Association during the tournament.

The champions of the second edition will receive a cash prize of INR 1 lakh along with the trophy, while the runners up will be awarded INR 90,000. The reigning champions Ziekezou Sporting Club will be defending its title in the second edition, four teams of the first edition opted out in the second edition namely Naga Bazar FC, Addax FC, Powercomm FC and Forerunners FC. The new entries in the second edition are Vanguard FC, Sechii Zubza FC and Twenty XI FC.

According to N. William Koso technical head KTC and former assistant coach Aizawl FC, the key players to watch out in this  edition are Menguzelie Rutsa, Rhitso Mero, and Salu Kulim from New Market FC,  Tongpangnungshi, Davekho Maizhamo, Jonathan Koso for United 16 FC, Kevisalie Sechii, Shiirhosiil Zhotso, Laloureiyang for Sechii Zubza FC,   Sinenlo Kath, Shamba Samson, Sanyem Salym for Vanguard FC, Keneinguzei, Kevizhapu, Ratobe for Ziekezuo SC, Metol Neikha  ,Zevito for Twenty X1 and Akuo ,Vekhruto for Khriekesa FC.

The month long tournament KFL-2 will continue till the August 24.

Participating teams: Ziekezou Sporting Club, New Market FC, Vanguard FC, Sechii Zubza FC, Twenty XI FC, Khriekesa FC, United 16 FC.
