Kohima Football League: Sechii Zubza FC debut ends in draw, Twenty XI FC win

Kohima, July 18 (EMN): Debutant team Sechii Zubza FC first match in the second edition of Kohima Football League against Khriekesa FC ended in a 1-1 draw here at the Kohima local ground on Wednesday.

Sechii Zubza FC came from behind to snatch a point against Khriekesa FC but failed to finish the game to take three points at the end of the match.

Sechii Zubza FC started the match brightly and it was the opponent goalkeeper Neimezo Houza who came in the rescue to save the blushes of Khriekesa FC with his quality goalkeeping and kept the match in a stalemate in the first half.

Vekhruto Resu came for the rescue to score a stunner from a long range kick outside the D box to give Khriekesa FC the lead in the 53rd minute. Sechii Zubza FC fought back and scored the equaliser through Laloureiyang Aloumei in the 63rd min in the midst of the rain and soggy wet ground.

With the goal, Sechii Zubza FC could have found the back of the net again but the players wasted numerous opportunities to score, Aloumei failed to score in numerous attempt as the match ended in 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile Twenty XI FC Viswema overpowered Vanguard FC 2-1 in the first match to register their first win in the tournament.

Hard luck for Vanguard FC side as they failed to capitalise on their opportunities that came their way to suffer a defeat as they also marked their entry to Kohima Football League.

In the match, Twenty XI FC opened the account through Apotso Rhetso in the 35th minute. Vanguard on the other hand failed to find the back of the net as the first half ended in favour of Twenty FC side.

Vanguard goal did come in the 73th minute through the captain Yhumshalo Kemp but in the midst of the goal celebration, Viho Kin immediately scored the second goal in 74th minute to take the lead again. Viswema team defended the score to win the match 2-1.

Kovi Meyase, Joint Secretary attended day-2 of KFL as the match patron. The organisers extended gratitude to Khriekesa FC and Sechii Zubza FC for clearing off a portion of the galleries after the match.
