Kohima deo organises district level science seminar

Kohima, Sept 17 (EMN): The Kohima district level science seminar organised by the district education officer, Kohima was held at Mezhur Higher Secondary School on Monday.

The seminar was held on the topic ‘Industrial Revolution 4.0: Are we prepared?’ where Neingusa-u Zatsu, a class 9 student of Mezhur HSS was declared as the winner. Vijayanand V Thomas (class 9) of St Mary’s Cathedral HSS  was adjudged second, while Akap T Yenlunghu (class 10) of Holy Cross HSS and Supolepden Kichu (class 9) of Fernwood School were third and fourth respectively.

The winner Zatsu will now represent Kohima district in the state level competition scheduled on September 21 in Dimapur at Government Higher Secondary School.

Eleven schools from around Kohima district participated in the seminar. Dr Limatemjen, assistant professor, Kohima Science College and Daniel Thong, SCERT were the judges.

Wonthungo Tsopoe, the director of School Education, in his speech exhorted the students to work hard and to overcome the daily challenges. The director stressed that Nagas were second to none but lack of motivation and facilities has hindered the students.

He suggested there should be laboratories in all the school to motivate the students to pursue science.

The director said if more students take up science steam, there will be more technocrats, industries, better facilities in the state.
