No cosmetic stereotypes! Mon’s women run the fairer race

Confidently attired in friendly pajamas, confident denim shorts and even in the ubiquitous, often-misunderstood male boxers, women of Mon district on Monday showed they were no cosmetic misfits when it came to hard street jobs– at least 1, 184 women turned out for a police recruitment rally that was conducted in the town’s main ground.
A recruitment rally for constables for candidates of east Nagaland’s districts is already on in Mon. For women candidates, the rally was conducted on July 27, in the local ground of Mon town.
So far about 5, 020 candidates are appearing for the recruitment rally. Out of the total number of candidates, 3, 836 are male candidates while women candidates numbered at 1, 184. The recruitment rally for women constables was conducted on Monday. The rally for men will be held on July 28.
In today’s recruitment 1, 184 female candidates appeared for 38 constables’ posts. The women constables were recruited based on the following criteria:
a) Running – one-and-half kilometers in 9 minutes
b) Long jump –8 feet
c) High jump –3 feet
c) Height measurement – five feet tall and above
All together, there are 116 constables’ posts. Out of which, 78 posts have been reserved for male candidates and 38 post for female candidates.
DIG of Mokokchung K Martin Pienyu, deputy commissioner Mon W Hongje, and Superintendent of Police of Mon district Yangba Konyak were at the recruitment rally.
Tuensang
Elsewhere in Tuensang district, a special recruitment drive to filling posts of UBC and ABC of Nagaland police started on July 27, Monday. The recruitment rally is expected to continue for five six days due to the huge number of the candidates.
Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang district, Alemjongshi was the chief guest of the event.
The members of the recruitment board include the deputy inspector-generals of police and sub divisional officers (civil). The recruitment is only for Khaimniungan and Chang tribe members in Tuensang. The number of candidates reached approx 2, 000.
