Dimapur, Nov. 12 (EMN): The NSCN (K) group led by Khango Konyak on Monday expressed willingness to resume ceasefire with the government of India.

The group issued a statement saying New Delhi has informed—through the Naga Mother’s Association (NMA) and the Nagaland Gaon Burah Federation (NGBF)—it was “more than happy to have NSCN return to peace” as it was the latter who had walked out of the truce unilaterally.

It stated that in response to the appeals made by the government of India, the state government and the Naga people, the group “is prepared to resume the abrogated ceasefire and pursue the Naga political issue with the GoI.”

The NSCN (K), prior to its split recently, had decided to abrogate the ceasefire with New Delhi in March, 2015. Since then there has been numerous gun-battles between the Indian security forces and the Naga outfit, resulting in few of the group’s top leaders being named in the NIA’s most wanted list.

On Monday it also stated that some Naga ‘NGO leaders’, not the government of India, were responsible for “more confusions and divisions” within the Naga political groups.

According to the group, “any unwanted fallout would solely be borne by vested Naga leaders who since the unfortunate crisis within the NSCN have been trying to impose their twisted interests and obstruct the peace efforts” between the outfit and New Delhi.

“It appears that certain section of the Nagas, either out of ignorance or vested interest, seems to be misinterpreting the ongoing peace initiative between the NSCN and GoI being mediated by various Naga frontal organisations including the NMA and NGBF.

“It is extremely biased and detrimental to peace that certain individual leaders and groups have been found to be trying to legitimise the illegal and unconstitutional impeachment attempt plotted by 36 Pangmi workers. Moreover, attempting to give recognition to NCA group and undermine the legitimate NSCN/GPRN led by Khango Konyak would be very dangerous and damaging to the Naga political issue,” the statement read.

Charging those “vested sections” of desperately trying to muddy the waters, the group stated, “the filthy role of some prominent NGO’s leaders are already in the fore, they shall be exposed and held responsible should any untoward situation occur.”

Also, it warned that ‘any individual, group or organisation found to be espousing the NCA group’s cause in west Nagaland shall be prosecuted as criminals, anti-peace and anti-Naga, who no longer have the credibility or legitimacy to talk about the Naga issue.’

It thanked the NGBF, NMA, ENPO; leaders of Yimchungrü, Khiamniungan, Chang, and Sangtam; Konyak Union, Sumi Hoho, Naga Hoho, NSF, NTC and CNTC “for their enthusiasm for peace and unflinching support and solidarity” to the group.
