KA observes 29th road safety week

Diphu, April 23 (EMN): The 29th Road Safety Week was observed by District Transport Officer (DTO) in Karbi Anglong on April 23 towards creating awareness among the public on traffic rules and road safety while driving.

The observation was flagged off Deputy commissioner Karbi Anglong Mridul Kumar Mahanta after which a procession was followed.

The rally was participated by school children of Diphu govt. girls high school and Auto-rickshaw drivers of Diphu town with their Auto-rickshaws.

During the public meeting, Executive Member of KAAC incharge Transports and Food & Civil Supplies Pradip Diphusa urged the public to obey traffic rules in order to avoid any untoward incidents said. He said, ‘machines should not override us, but we should control machine,’ while citing that because of traffic rules violation many people die of road accidents.

Diphusa said that there is illegal parking in Lahorijan located at the entrance of Dimapur town in Nagaland. ‘The transport department will decide to settle it so that revenue is generated,’ said Diphusa while urging everyone to drive vehicles with safe traffic measures.

DC Mridul Kr. Mahanta said driving license should not be provided to those who are new to driving. He said if driving license is issued without proper verification then the DTO will be held responsible for any unfortunate accidents. Also, the DC spoke on the illegal parking sites located at Diphu town that creates traffic congestion.

Earlier, DTO Saikia explained about the importance of obeying traffic rules for safety.
