Kohima, Dec. 28 (EMN): A local organisation, the Khulazu Basa Students’ Union (KBSU) conducted its 61st general session at Cekiizho, Khulazu Basa village, in Phek district on Dec. 28. The programme was conducted with the theme ‘education and skill; two dimensional approach in employment.’
The guest speakers for the session were Vekhosa Kezo, scientist at Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources; and Vekhoyi Tetseo, assistant registrar at SASRD, Nagaland University. The resource persons for the event were Seto Rhakho and Nukhosa Chuzho.
In his address Vekhosa Kezo said that the ‘spirit of self reliance, dignity of labour and entrepreneurs is the need of the need of the hour.’ As an educated individual, he said, every student must take the responsibility for their failure or success. He said that every student was a leader irrespective of their background.
Kezhothito Keyho, president of the KBSU, gave the presidential address. He said that the prime reason for the existence of the union was to ‘protect the rights’ and work for the welfare of the students. He urged the students to contribute to the society which the students identify themselves with.
A short speech was delivered by S Pusayi Rhakho, stated to be the first matriculate from Khulazu Basa village. In his speech, Rhakho reminded the gathering to equip themselves with ‘wisdom’ and knowledge as it was the only way to succeed in life.
Also, Vezhohu Rhakho, the headmaster in charge of the government high school of Khulazu Basa, challenged students to rebuild the society with vision. He said that the ‘book is the students’ guardian and leader; it will lead them to the right path of knowledge.’
The best student of the year award was awarded to Vengota Keyho, class-7 and Phisalii, class-6. Another highlight was a poem recited by Pusazolii Chiizho.
