Mokokchung, Oct. 10 (EMN): Jubilee Memorial College (JMC) – one of the mission wings of Mokokchung Town Baptist Church (MTBA), held a sanctification programme at its new college site in Longkhum village in the presence of Longkhum Baptist Church, Longkum village council and land donors on Tuesday.
The new college site is ideally located at a strategic location on NH 61 some 20 kilometres away from Mokokchung town and less than 10 kilometres away from VK Town, Zunheboto.
The pastor of MTBA Rev. Ponen Longchar disclosed that 200 plus acres was donated to the church to start the vision college by the Longkhum village. Presently JMC located in the heart of Mokokchung town imparts Art degree courses.
“Apart from University Grants Commission (UGC) syllabus, the college provides music, spiritual counselling and enrichment courses for the students to prepare for competitive examinations,” said associate professor (HOD Physic, FAC) Dr. Imtiwati, who is one of the Board of Directors of JMC.
He disclosed that enrichment courses include mathematical skill, general knowledge, science and technologic, geography and lectures on burning issues etc by well-versed academicians.
It may be mentioned that on November 10, 2016, a MoU was inked between MTBA and landowners at Longkhum Church with Longkhum Baptist Church and Longkhum Village Council as witnesses.
According to Rev. Ponen an agreement was signed with land donors to return the donated land if the church does not required the land anymore in the future.
Rev. Ponen disclosed that the church envisioned establishing a residential college adding MTBA has started working on the plan. Representatives from Longkhum Baptist Church and Village Council Longkhum also spoke at the programme which was followed by sanctification prayer.
