Dimapur, July 26 (EMN): The Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) has yet again repeated its demand to the Nagaland government to revoke the November 24, 2016, assembly resolution on the Municipal Act.
The platform, which led protests against the state’s decision to conducted the municipal polls earlier this year, also expressed displeasure that Chief Minister TR Zeliang was at the helm of affairs even when ‘inquiry has yet to be complete.’
The JCC issued a press release on Tuesday making clear its disapproval at the chief minister and the legislators.
The organisation informed to have conducted discussions on July 26 ‘on the present issue.’ All the tribal leaders have given directives to their respective tribal body over a number of ‘points,’ the JCC informed.
In the first place, the press release stated, the organisations expressed “dismay over T.R. as C.M. when the inquiry is yet to be completed.”
Likewise, the JCC “came heavily upon all the legislators for their conduct by putting their self interest first” and neglecting the welfare of the people “by undermining the will of the people which they are elected to serve.”
The organisation informed that the leaders at the meeting demanded that the government revoke the November 24, 2016, resolution of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly over the Nagaland Municipal Act before the expiration of two months.
‘The house also resolved that the JIC should complete its enquiry and made public its report within a period of 2 months time,’ the JCC added.

‘DNYF’ denounced

The JCC has denounced a youth group calling itself the ‘DNYF’ (Dimapur Naga youth front) which the former stated was not the “original DNYF.”
The press release cautioned in one length: “The house came heavily on the recent youth body so called new DNYF formation. The tribal bodies and JCC gave a strong disapproval and stated that other than the original DNYF which was formed under the banner of the tribal bodies and JCC which was purchased by blood, shall not be allowed to be played around with, that it has no business to interfere on formations of groups but expressed that it shall not entertain any formations which has no link nor support of the tribal bodies and its youth organisations under the nomenclature of DNYF.”
