Kohima, Dec. 2 (EMN):
James Kithan, the goalkeeper for Churchill Brothers Sporting Club based in Goa debuted at the I-League match against Shillong Lajong FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Saturday evening.
James Kithan became the 3rd person from Nagaland to debut at the I League after Kwethelhi Thopi and Roko Angami who played for Mahindra and Mahindra in 1996-97 (the now defunct Indian League).
Born and bought up in Dimapur, Kithan has played for Kohima Komets, Peerless Sports Club, Kolkata, Mohammedan Sporting Club, VIVA Chennai FC etc.
‘It was a great and wonderful feeling to play in the I-League and I feel blessed for this opportunity ….i would like to give credit to our Almighty God and the Churchill Brothers Coach and management and specially my family for supporting me in everything’ said Kithan.
In the match at Shillong, a goal each from Redeem Tlang and Samuel Kynshi helped Shillong Lajong Football Club (SLFC) register their second consecutive win as they overcame Churchill Brothers FC Goa to get three points.
Visalie Mezhii is also in contention for I-League squad for Churchill Brothers Sporting Club and also the youngest player in the squad.
The 18-year-old is the son of Keviuchulie Mezhü, Pastor, Town Baptist Church, Medziphema and the second child of the five siblings and the only son.
