Jacob graces Sumi Students’ Union Guwahati silver jubilee

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 30: Parliamentary secretary of Irrigation and Flood Control, Jacob Zhimomi, graced the Sumi Students’ Union Guwahati (SSUG) silver jubilee on theme “Education and Social Transformation” on November 26 at Green Wood Resort Khanapara, Guwahati as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, he congratulated SSUG for achieving 25 years of existence and also thanked the pioneers for their selfless service rendered for Sumi Students’ Union Guwahati.
Jacob encouraged the students to be patient and dedicate their life to God if they want to achieve success in life and said “if you sleep today, you will suffer tomorrow if you do not sow the seed in the right time then you will have nothing to reap tomorrow”.
Pointing out that both unemployment and excess employment cases in Nagaland, he echoed that youth must not always depend on the government job but rather be self dependant by learning various kinds of skill development.
Stating that state government is not the only employer in the state, he urged the youths to join private sectors and said. He also informed that with a view to eradicate the unemployment problems, the state government under the leadership Chief Minister TR Zeliang has set up a Skill Development department to tackle the unemployment problem confronting the state, because it is difficult to solve the unemployment problem overnight.
Further, he exhorted the students to preserve their culture and mother tongue as it is the only identity.
A brief history of SSUG was narrated by Vikato Shikhu, convenor of Jubilee Planning Board, while Rev. Dr. Solomon Rongpi, general secretary CBCNEI encouraged the students with the word of God and prayed for the students.
The designer’s wear was displayed with a on the occasion, designer Lovikali Kemp, displayed her designed wears. Special items presentations were; Imuno Pi Sujo Sujo, Thighale, Bihu dance, amikukula, angukupusu and akhetsu kukuka Competition.
Earlier, Kughaho Chishi, pastor Sumi Christian Fellowship Guwahati invoked god’s blessing , Inaka Vikiye Nu Achumi, president SSUG, delivered welcome speech, while vote of thanks was proposed by Inito Shohe, ex- president SSUG and benediction by Awobang Ozukum, pastor of Ao Christian Fellowship Guwahati.
