Dimapur, Dec. 11 (EMN): An inter-college basketball tournament for both men and women organised by Immanuel College was held at the college campus on Tue. Dec. 11. The tournament began with a short programme with William Kath, NPS Asst Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dimapur as the special invitee.
In his address, Kath encouraged the players to have the sportsmanship spirit, show good form, have the will to win, show all fairness, not to be self centered, have respect and a sense of fellowship with one’s competitors.
Altogether four colleges namely Unity College, SD Jain Girls College, St. John College and Immanuel College took part in the tournament. The entire tournament was intense as teams from the four colleges battled for the champions’ trophy.
Unity College emerged as the champions followed by Immanuel College as the runners-up in men’s category. In the women’s category, the trophy was lifted by St. John College with S.D Jain Girls College as the runners-up. The winning colleges were awarded with a trophy along with citations and a cash prize of INR 10000 for the champions and INR 5000 for the runners-up.
Individual prizes include top scorer in both the category. In the men’s category the top scorer was awarded to Amento from Immanuel College and Kivitoli Ayemi from St. John College in the women’s category. Each player was awarded with a certificate and a cash prize of INR 1000 each.
