Kohima, March 26 (EMN): MLA P Pohwang Konyak has asked the Nagaland Legislative Assembly to set up a committee to initiate talks with the NSCN (K) to resume ceasefire with the Government of India.

The MLA expressed dismay that the Naga political issue was discussed at every NLA session and at every meeting but the Naga people were still in the dark about the progress of the talks. He said this during debate in the Assembly on March 24.

While appreciating the negotiations between the NSCN (IM) and the Government of India for resolution to the protracted issue, he said it was important that the people must unite first before any solution.

He also asserted that the Governor in his address had appealed to the NSCN (K) to come back into ceasefire with the centre but wondered who would convey this message. Towards this, he maintained that people to people dialogue is needed, not just on a speech or on paper. He appealed to the NLA to explore the possibility of setting up a committee to embark on this mission.
