A Staff Reporter | EMN
MEDZIPHEMA, JUL 30:
Inaugurating the ‘Vikie Candle Unit’-a candle making unit established by Lhouzo Sachü, an enterprising resident of Medziphema village today,

MLA & chairman Nagaland Khadi and Village Industries Board, Dr. Nicky Kire pointed out that candle making is a very viable commercial project and can provide high returns gradually so long as it is nurtured with patience and determination.
However the chief guest rued that Naga tend to attempt towards getting lakhs and lakhs overnight which is a negative concept and never successful.  He also chastised the negative nature of the Nagas for chasing after subsidies and bank loans never to repay. For this reason, the banks are reluctant to give loans to Nagas,” Dr Kire pointed out.
The chief guest also reminded the educated unemployed Nagas that employment should not be taken in the definition of government jobs as is the seeing notion. “I see no reason why education unemployed should be unemployed…government service is not the only job…there are so many schemes, so many ways where you can get employed, Dr Kire asserted.
Er Temsulong Jamir in a short speech gave a highlight of the various industrial schemes that can be availed from the state government as well as the centre.
He called upon all interested entrepreneurs to inquire on the various schemes such as the Central Investment Subsidy, Transport Subsidy, PMEGP to name a few from the District Industries Centre (DIC) and register with the Entrepreneurs Memorandum (part 1 & II) as under the MSME Act so that they can avail the benefits.
Jamir also lauded the initiative of the candle unit proprietor Sachü and said such project is not only a big asset for the village but also for the industry department.
