CF chairman visits Ahthibung; situation continues to be tense

DIMAPUR, FEB 6: Barely a week in the hot-seat as chairman of the CFMG/CFSB, Major General (Retd) N George Monday visited Ahthibung town under Peren district, which is currently bearing the brunt of a full-scale turf war between bitter rivals NSCN (K) and GPRN/NSCN (Khole-Kitovi).

 
GPRN/NSCN flays Feb 5 killing

DIMAPUR, FEB 6 (EMN): The GPRN/NSCN today condemned what it said was ‘cold-blooded murder’ of its cadres at Athibung on Sunday, Feb 5. The outfit, in a release, said it had been maintaining maximum restrain and were staying away from the village as per the advice given to both parties by the Ceasefire enforcing agency to stay away from the vicinity of the town and village, and as also appealed by peace loving Nagas to cease hostilities among brethrens. However, it said the boys had gone to the village to collect rations when they were ambushed by rival NSCN (K) members.

 
NU to scrap online examination system

DIMAPUR, FEB 6 (EMN): Nagaland University Vice Chancellor Prof BK Kounwar has assured a delegation of the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) that the upcoming undergraduate examinations will be conducted through hard copy delivery system of question papers in the examination centres, while also assuring evaluation of papers on manual system as in the past.

 
PCI asks govt depts to make prompt payments for ads

DIMAPUR, FEB 6 (EMN): Press Council Chairman Justice Markandey Katju , has asked the Government departments in the Central and State Governments and Union Territories, as well as statutory authorities, to make prompt payments for the government advertisement/notices published in various newspapers/journals.
