In-service prog. for Northeast begins at St. Paul institute

Dimapur, Jan. 12 (EMN): St. Paul Institute of Education at Phesama in Kohima has started its annual in-service teachers programme with 72 teachers from across the Northeast region. The institute informed about the event in a press release on Thur.
The 12 days refresher course for the teachers is an annual feature of the institute which is stated to be one of the oldest teacher training colleges in the Northeast.
In keeping with the institute’s goal to ‘train teachers for tomorrow with quality and commitment in mind,’ the institute said that it trains teachers to ‘face the challenges of the teaching profession.’ This programme equips teachers with the skills to face modern disciplinary problems, the press release informed.
The pedagogy of teaching, skill and technique; accelerated learning, mind mapping, personality development; classroom management; behavioural management; and intelligence were some topics that have been included in the training programme.
The training also equipped the trainees with ‘dancercise’ and rhymes ‘to make classes interesting and to motivate the students,’ the updates stated.
Stating to know the needs of training teachers, the institute has been training teachers at various levels in Northeast, it added.
The resource persons for the training included Rev. Fr. Charles D Souza SJ; Rev. Sr. Deepthi FCC; Rev. Dr. Boniface D Souza SJ; Rev. Dr. Anand Periera SJ; Rev. Fr. Ravi Sagar SJ; Rev. Fr. Gerard Rego SJ; Rev. Dr. Arock SJ; Rev. Sr. Tessin FCC (vice-principal); Zhapuvino, Thejaseno, Mhasivino, Ciu Zashumo, and Felix Monteiro SJ (principal).
