Tubescreeamer considers music a ‘gift and a curse’, an independent artist from Mokokchung who after years of struggling to remove his ‘ignorance and ego’ towards learning music beyond his knowledge has finally broken the spell of staying within his cocoon.
He writes and records instrumental tracks, mostly focusing on rock and groove metal. He was the winner of Blues guitar virtuoso solo contest ROCK REIGN Mokokchung Nagaland 2012.
Some of his influences include Steve Vai, Nuno Battencourt, Dreamtheater, Slipknot, etc.
He says learning from the greats and listening to their songs affects the learning process positively while trying to master one’s skills. EASTERN MIRROR: A little intro about yourself as ‘Tubescreeamer’…
TUBESCREEAMER: Hi I’m Tubescreeamer an independent artist from Mokokchung, I write and record instrumental tracks.

EASTERN MIRROR: Why the name Tubescreeamer? And why do you choose to be identified as ‘Tubescreeamer’, masking your real identity?
TUBESCREEAMER: Well, couple of years back when I first got my demos recorded, I noticed that having a catchy name as an artist was way better than using my initials, especially for a newbie like me. The name Tubescreeamer came out of love for Tubescreamer overdrive pedal by Ibanez. I guess that’s just about it all, the whole Tubescreeamer thingie

EASTERN MIRROR: As mentioned in your indihut profile….why do you consider music a ‘beautiful gift’ and a ‘curse’ too??
TUBESCREEAMER: ‘Gift’ and ‘Curse’ were the best words I could sum up to cut a long story short. I love music and I’m sure everybody does, it’s beautiful. And by ‘curse’ I meant the odds that I face and go through as a musician, but I can’t fuzz about it, it’s either I quit or keep doing it and basically learn to live with it that’s the whole deal, it’s nobody’s burden to bear but mine though it’s easier said than done. I wish to elaborate a little bit more but if I do I’ll go on forever so I’ll stop there..haha..

EASTERN MIRROR: For somebody extremely interested in learning guitar and has zeal, what according to you would be the best and easiest exercise to acquire his/her interest?
TUBESCREEAMER: Hmm..Interesting question, truth is I’m still a big time learner myself but one thing for sure there is no such thing as the best and easiest way to turn into a guitar monster. Having ‘extreme interest’ and ‘urge to learn’ is a good start. Learning guitar is easy, making use of it and making sense with it is the hardest part. Having patience, practicing the right way, mastering basics, jamming as much as possible with different types of tracks and musicians have always proved to be helpful for me. But there is nothing like learning from the greats and professionals, they open up a wider range of understanding towards improving, listening to their songs affects our learning process positively.

EASTERN MIRROR: Being a musician from Mokokchung, how well do you think the music industry there is coping with the rest of the world?
TUBESCREEAMER: There is no such thing as a ‘music industry’ in Mokokchung, and I’m amazed to know that ‘Squadron’ one of the first rock band from here are ready to hit the stage again to celebrate 25 years of their glory and musical journey, it makes me wonder how things could’ve been if the so called industry ever existed. So many cool bands and artists have emerged Tune Up Channel, Infuse, Ensemble 1 (all girls band), Arenlong Longkumer, Tiaz Lemtur, Meyatsung Aier to name some. In-fact the whole of Nagaland is packed with talented artists sharing and living on the same miserable environment for music one way or the other, of course good things do happen and I only wish and hope that it gets better for all of us….

EASTERN MIRROR: Did you undergo any professional course in music?
TUBESCREEAMER: Nope

EASTERN MIRROR: Which music genre do you enjoy playing with?
TUBESCREEAMER: Rock and groove metal
