Entering the ‘leather finished goods’ business with so much of financial constraints, Moakala chose to become a leather designer without any formal training. Her love for leather goods made her stronger and passionate to compete and popularize her goods with the countless number of competitors growing in the state.  Moakala who does not follow any kind of trends says that her business that started off in the year 2010 is very much active and hopes to introduce better and attractive design by this year end.

‘Nothing makes a woman more fashionable than she who understands her body’~ Moakala

Eastern Mirror: How did you get started in the fashion industry. Tell us about your early days.
Moakala: It was in the year 2010 that I started my work without any formal training or financial assistance under d theme Bare Hand. As I started off, competing with the market goods was the most difficult part of all, yet I was never defeated by the number of competitions. The competitions made me more and more determined to achieve and succeed in what I started off.Eastern Mirror: What would you say is your design signature? Tell us about your brand.
Moakala: I mainly focus on the quality and finishing of the product. My goods are of good quality which are mostly sold at half the market price and definitely one of a kind…… no replica

Eastern Mirror: What is it about leather that you find so alluring to work with?
Moakala: I just love, love, love leather goods, I feel that I am a person who only fits into the leather industry that includes all kinds of leather goods.

Eastern Mirror: Are you a trend follower or trend setter? Which type of fashion have you avoided following as an individual designer.
Moakala: I don’t know if people will ever consider me as a trend setter, but I am definitely not a trend follower.

Eastern Mirror: What is the scenario of fashion industry in the state like? Any rooms for improvement?
Moakala: I believe that ‘fashion industry’ in Nagaland have come along quite good but we still have a long way to go. We have to be twice as good as the fashion industry to go half as far to compete and move along with the rest of the world. So yes, definitely, there is always a room for improvement.

Eastern Mirror: What would you like to achieve by the end of this year?
Moakala: Right now I am working much with my designs which I believe will hit the market by the end of this year.

Eastern Mirror: What is the best fashion advice for women?
Moakala: Well……to all the fashion friends…Stop comparing with people on the magazine, understand your body shape and dress accordingly. Nothing makes a woman more fashionable than she who understands her body.
