Eastern Mirror: How did you get into modeling? How were you discovered?
Carol Humtsoe: It happened by chance, I was in high school and it started out as a hobby and one thing led to another.

EM: What are some of the biggest misconceptions Nagas have when it comes to modeling?
Carol Humtsoe: I don’t think there is a detailed understanding about the fashion industry per se, hence they think that its not a viable career or that its too shallow, not that it bothers me but with time i am sure there will be a change in perception.

EM: How do you feel on the runway? Whats your funniest experience on the runway?
Carol Humtsoe: Being on the runway gives you a rush, i enjoy how blank it can feel sometimes and very elevated at times. I have’t experienced anything funny as yet and I hope i enjoy a good laugh when it does.

EM: What was your first big break in the fashion industry?
Carol Humtsoe: My first big break was going to Paris to represent Wella India as their model.

EM: Assuming yourself to be an adventurous and sporty model……What could be your most adventurous and daring experience in your list long audacious experiences?
Carol Humtsoe: There are many actually, Paragliding, rock climbing, river rafting, cycling from Kohima to Dimapur but i think Bungee jumping from one of the highest Bungees in Nepal was close to Nirvana.

EM: You have a creditable portfolio as a model. Which of the projects you have worked so far are you most proud of and why?
Carol Humtsoe: I did some good commercial ads and fashion shows, Lakme Fashion Week , walked for some designers at Amazon Fashion Week but I think my highlight was working with Director Wong Kar Wai for a Chivas Regal ad in Jaipur and also my editorial work with Grazia, Marie Claire, cover page for sports international, shooting with Manou of Wearabout for Tommy Hilfiger, I also shot for Pero,Kallol Datta , NidaMahmood amongst the ones I can remember.

EM: What’s your fashion mode? A piece of fashion advice you would want to convey to our Naga fashion lovers?
Carol Humtsoe: I think we should all celebrate and express ourselves through clothes and if you are looking at it as a career option then you must be passionate enough to hold on to it and be serious about it.
