In Appreciation… of the Simple Pleasures of Life

Hello folks,

I believe that life has so much to give if only we cared to give a little thought to the most minuscule of joys (which we’d find so much of) only if we’d stop looking at the looming discomforts and discontents.
So here I am, to share with you the simplest joys in my life as I have experienced some time in my life and those that I take as I face each day, at a time.

Of two Elves

What did Santa Claus, Jacob Grimm’s Shoemaker, and J K Rowling’s series have in common?

Gifted- in- magic supernatural beings with pointed ears, a trademark they bore. Elves!

‘Do-gooders’ is the impression I own about them.

In my life emerged two such, very silently and as promptly as Mr Shoemaker’s perhaps, at just the appropriate appointed moment.

In dire straits when I needed to complete a mammoth of a task at the dawn of the arrival of house guests, my mind was running amok way out of focus and rationale. I couldn’t take over this job which needed almost immediate attention. My tizzy over the matter happened because there was none close at hand to the rescue; at least none with the expertise called for, at such short notice.

Frustration and gloom stood as a defeat, a foil to what I so wanted sorted, settled and in place.

Yet the truth remained that they, the two concerned, had in fact, days ago, stepped inside my gate offering their assistance, of which I was in oblivion of.

Could anything have been timed more perfect?

Boundless was my joy when I heard of them, wanting to swoop them in tight embrace. I didn’t, lest they fled.

The summoned duo stood at my door diminutive and demure. Cautiously I approached and placed forward my plead. They took in every word with hushed observance and amplifications on uncertainties. With affirmative acquiescent nods they took over the task allaying me of all fret and anxiety.

Not wanting to agonise on lurking niggles I relinquished the assignment confiding in positive commitments given.

Three days was the pledged assurance.

Only a day and a half later the mission accomplished stood signed, sealed and delivered. Almost seamlessly flawless . Unspoiled and absolute. They had topped it off just right. My two Elves aged 11 and 14 ,well on their way to great successes as I have come to understand. My hat I doff to them – Pinky and Purnima.

For all small mercies daily bestowed in innumerable ways, I stand humbled in praise.
