Impact Hub Society organises career option seminar

Dimapur, Sep. 13 (EMN): A seminar on career option after B-tech was organized under the initiative of Impact Hub Society, Dimapur on September12 and 13 at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Chumukedima and SETAM respectively.
Resource person CEO from Engineers Zone, Delhi, Irphan Ali, underscored various career prospects upon completion of B-tech. He classified career option into three categories: jobs, higher education, and entrepreneurship. He further categorized jobs into three namely govt. jobs, Public Service Undertakings (PSU) and pvt. jobs.
He said under govt jobs, 100 % share is of the govt. such as ISRO, DRDO, UPSC ect. while PSU it is a partial share between the govt. and the pvt. sector companies such as HPCL, BPCL,IOCL, ONGC among others and under pvt. sector companies like Wipro, HCl, Infosys where 0% share is of the govt.
According to GATE score in almost all the three sector, Ali said the chances of getting a job will be determined. As per the proposal put up by the AICTE to the HRD, the department is likely to consider making it a mandatory to clear GATE exam for every engineering students to get a job in govt. sector, he stated. Therefore, he added that it is very important that young minds have a clear understanding about the concept and dynamics of such exam.
Ali said there is only two ‘mantra’ to be successful-one is by getting up early and second is preparing each assignment on each own without copy pasting and submitting.
“Preparing an assignment in itself is preparing for one’s future because that is exactly students knows where they stand and will be able to identify their areas of concern and opportunity,” he said.
On a query asked by students whether coaching is required to give any competitive exam, he opined that coaching is not required however, a good mentor and a coach can help achieve the goal of a students by leading into the right direction. He said in today’s world there is cut throat competition that one cannot remain to be complacent but need to understand dynamics of the market.
Ali informed that engineers zone for PSU, GATE, IES has open up its branch in Dimapur, opposite to Deputy Commissioner Police near SBI main branch where students can now attend the same coaching class as Delhi.
He said days of dreaming to study in metropolitan cities are gone with the introduction of V-SAT class. Students can now avail the same opportunity and can compete equally on a National Level by sitting comfortably in their own hometown by paying an affordable price, he added.
