Imkongsenla wins photo contest

Mokokchung, August 19 (EMN): A 26 year old amateur photographer, Imkongsenla was declared winner of the ‘Photo Contest and Exhibition for Mokokchung Shutter Bugs’ which was held in commemoration of the World Photography Day at Imlong Place, Mokokchung on Saturday.
The contest was single handily organised by Toshi Kichu, a well-known photographer in Mokokchung, on the theme “Image of Mokokchung” with Chubayongdang Walling, District Public Relation Officer (DPRO) Mokokchung, as the special guest.
Altogether 20 photographs of different genres were collected from enthusiastic photographers around Mokokchung, wherein Imkongsenla reflection image bagged the winning prize. She walks away with a cash amount of Rs 5000. Toshi Aier of Tongdentsuyong Ward and Aren Changkiri of Kumlong Ward secured the first and second runner-ups positions respectively. They both received a cash amount of Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 respectively.
The contest was judged by Mennolhoulie Kire (Photographer from Dimapur), Limalenden Longkumer (president of Mokokchung Press Club President) and Lensana (writer and a photo enthusiastic).
During the programme, Chubayongdang Walling, DPRO Mokokchung, congratulated Toshi Kichu for single handily organising the contest and photo exhibition in commemoration of the World Photography Day.
He said ever since the invention photography process in the 1837, photographs has become part of daily life. Congratulating the winners, he also appreciated the enthusiasm of the participants for their activeness to participate in the contest and advised them to give more enthusiasm in photography.
He has termed photography to visual poetry, which expressed emotion and situation to the viewers, adding photographs open doors to the past and the future.
Toshi Kichu said that the main motivation behind organising the event was to motivate the young photographers and to make this event a yearly event.
