Dimapur, Dec. 30 (EMN): Health minister Imkong L Inchen has underlined the need to revive the concept of clean election saying a transformation is required to achieve the goals set by the church bodies in order to ensure clean election. He remarked that the concept of clean election was good for the candidates but it is other way round for the public.

Imchen said this while addressing the second day of the Khensa Students’ Union (KSU) platinum jubilee celebration at the Multipurpose Community Hall on December 30.

Imchen was of the view that instead of implementing or imposing the notion of clean election from the top to bottom, it should start from the ground level. He suggested that the whole idea of clean election should be inculcated in the school curriculum, taught in Sunday Schools adding church leaders and preachers should not stop talking about it.

“Electorates should be properly educated and not imposed,” he reiterated while stating that “Clean election is not biblical but a social concept.”

On Naga political issue he said, “It is very imperative for every Naga to pursue for the right Naga political settlement” adding “The current situation and atmosphere is conducive for arriving to a settlement.”

Dr. Watijungshi, principal of Kohima College and main speaker of the day, spoke on the theme of the jubilee “Progress in harmony.” As people are stepping into a new generation of “Digital Age,” he said there is an urgency to develop extra skill in all aspects of political, education, social, economic etc.

Citing some points from the findings of World Economic Forum on the need of different skills to thrive tomorrow, he highlighted that complex problem solving practice is foremost which requires ability to solve or find an alternative solution to problems. The second is critical thinking- making reasonable judgment and the need to think practically and do differently from other people. He said there is a great need for creative thinking in order to set oneself apart from the crowd. The other three skills include people management skill, emotional intelligence skill and decision making skill.

KSU platinum jubilee souvenir was released by Makenyangba (101 years), the oldest surviving founding member of Khensa Students’ Union.

Presidents of Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) and Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) also spoke in the programme. A song was presented by Katibenla, recipient of National Award for Best Creative Child with Disabilities, 2015.

In the evening session, Supongsashi, deputy conservator of forest Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, spoke on ‘Academic and competitive exam, while Dr. Sashiyangba, district project officer of land resource, Mokokchung, spoke on ‘Skill development and entrepreneurship.’

The Ao band ‘Samaro’ also presented songs during the programme.
