Dimapur, April 7 (EMN) : If the local people do not engage in the business opportunities in the state, there will be other opportunists from outside who will come and make use of the opportunities, youths and young professionals at an event in Dimapur have been reminded.
One needs to think creatively, said Nigel Eastwood, co-founder of New Call Telecom Holdings during a Young Indians programme in the city. Members of the Nagaland chapter of Young Indians, college students and young achievers; entrepreneurs and professionals gathered at Hotel Europa Inn conference hall on April 7 in Dimapur to celebrate their 9th annual day under the theme “Making a difference”.
Nigel Eastwood, co-founder of New Call Telecom Holdings BV said in his address during the event that he had strong affinity with the northeast region. He said to have found ‘plenty of opportunities’ with the natural landscapes and flora and fauna.
As an investor, he has a strong feeling that Dimapur has significant intellectual resources and business opportunities; entrepreneurs need to seek ways to find out how to make a difference in this region to make it more attractive and resourceful for other investors to invest, he said.
Also, admiring the ‘sense of style’ in the Naga society and seeing few international brands floating in the market, he said they were signs of westernisation. ‘We need to start on with attitude and an intellectual move as we cannot stop change to come in our lives,’ he said.
Further, Eastwood said that if the locals do not grow in business there would be other opportunists from outside who will take away the opportunities in no time. The region is a majority Christian region which he said was a great platform to start change, he said. To have new creative thinking, he added, one needs to exert much effort. You need to be like ‘Einstein,’ he explained.
The second part of the programme continued with a business session.
