Ibobi inaugurates food processing park

IMPHAL, Dec 5: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh inaugurated the Food Processing Park, which was development under the initiative of the State Industries and Commerce Department at Nilakuthi near Imphal on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion the chief minister stressed on the role of private firms in providing employment to the unemployed youth towards improving the State economy.
Stating that the State government was serious to provide employment to the unemployed youth of the State, he said the State government has already taken decision to introduce Manipur Start Up Policy which would benefit both skilled and unskilled unemployed youth of the State. He said only some states of India like Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat and West Bengal have introduced such policy.He also said that Nilakuthi Food Processing Park will facilitate the entrepreneurs to establish their business. The objective of the park is to give employment opportunity to the unemployed youth and improve the economy.
In his presidential speech, minister of Commerce & Industries, Govindas Konthoujam, said food processing park has been set up in view of the suitability of setting up of Agro-based industry in the State. Recently, the State government had inaugurated two industrial estates one each in Thoubal and Bishnupur districts and a Central Poultry Farm in Imphal West. Principal Secretary of Commerce & Industries, L Lakher said the total cost of the Park is around Rs 45 crores and has a total of 49 plots of 600 sq.mtr.each which are to be allotted to entrepreneurs. The Park has facilities like cold storage, warehouse, drainage sewerage and one affluent treatment plant.
The State Works Minister Ksh. Biren Singh also attended the function as a guest of honour.
