Dimapur, Nov. 6 (EMN): In response to the Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union’s (ENCSU) press release dated Nov. 4, the department of Higher & Technical Education stated that the department had received the 1stinstalment of Scheduled Tribes students’ scholarship from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, and the same has already been deposited to the account of students/beneficiaries.
According to DIPR, along with the Utilization Certificate of the 1stInstalment, the department has written to the Ministry for early release of the 2nd and final installment.
Therefore, the department has requested the ENCSU not to demand payment against the non-release of installment, but to pray for early release of the 2nd and final installment by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
ZPCSU endorses ENCSU’s demand
The Zisaji Presidency College Students Union (ZPCSU) has strongly supported the demand made by Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) with regard to the immediate disbursement of scholarship for 2016-17.
ZPCSU former and present general secretaries in a release stated that such type of policy is surprising and insane. Release of scholarship in an installment basis happens only in Nagaland is very shameful, the release added.
The ZPCSU questioned as to why the department and the concerned minister of Education is still silent for the demand of ENCSU, and why the state government is not having concern for students community. The issue raise up by the ENCSU is not only for Eastern students but for the general welfare of students in Nagaland and the ENCSU is fighting for the rights of students due share, the press release stated.
The union urged the state government and the department to release the full amount to the ST students immediately.
Further, the ZPCSU stated the union will not tolerate and compromise in any case if the demand is not meet by the government and the department at the earliest.
