HSLC results declared in Manipur: 73.18% students clears the exam

Imphal, May 25 (EMN): Around 73.18 % students – the highest in the last five years – cleared the Board of Secondary Education Manipur’s (BOSEM) High school leaving certificate (HSLC) examinations 2018.

The  result was declared on May 25 Friday. The last highest pass percentage was recorded in 2013 (72.27 %).

Last year, the pass percentage was 66.07 against 65.37 in 2016. Nearly 27,126 out of 37,351 students who wrote the exams passed. Of these 11,550 scored first division, 14,558 the second and 1018 in the third.

The pass percentage of students from private schools were 80.84, that of aided school was 62.01 and in the government-run schools 50.59 % managed to clear the exams.

Girl student secured the top position in the HSLC exam while 36 other girls students were among the 68 top 25 position holders in this year’s exam.

Yaiphabi Mayengbam of Little Flower School Imphal secured the first position and Surjakanta Irengbam of Ch Thambou high school Mayang Imphal and Patel Lairenjam of Little Flower School Imphal jointly bagged the second position.

B Balkrishna of Padma Ratna English School Kakching and Angela Athokpam of Little Flower School Imphal were declared as the joint third toppers. Both secured 570 marks each.

Yaiphabi, the daughter of Mayengbam Monokanta from Sagolband Tera Lukram Leirak in Imphal west district, secured 573 marks out of 600. Surjakanta, the son of Metrik of Mayang Imphal in Imphal West district and Patel, the daughter Sharatchandra of Utlou Mamang Leikai in Bishnupur district, scored 572 marks each.

State education minister Th Radheshyam Singh announced the much-awaited result in the presence of Chairman Akham Joykumar Singh led BOSEM officials in a press conference in Imphal.

Speaking on the occasion, Radheshyam said that the reason for increase in the pass percentage of the students since 2013 is because of cooperation and support from the general public and guardians.

“Now we need to focus for better results in the coming years,” said Radheshyam.
