Horticulture advisor assures to be catalyst for economy improvement

Dimapur, April 21 (EMN): Advisor for Horticulture Mhathung Yanthan assured that he will play a catalyst role in implementing government policies and programmes to uplift the economic status of the people.
The advisor said this during an interacting with the people of his constituency during his visit to Aree old and new and Okotso village on April 20 and 21. An update from DPRO received on Saturday informed.
The advisor said his main focus is to uplift the economic status of the neglected sector in his constituency, which is why he said he has chosen these villages on his maiden official tour.
Yanthan said the area being one of the most under privilege and neglected area ‘because of its difficult terrain and land lock area bounded by Doyang river basin, people are deprived of better healthcare system, education, road connectivity and other basic amenities.’

Delivering people’s aspiration is a big challenge for me, the advisor added.
Government will do its best to uplift the area. However, he said the responsibility also lies with the people, how pro-actively they are responding to government policy and programmes. Government alone cannot bring changes but people have to be enterprising and hard-working in order to move forward.
While acknowledging difficulties faced by the government employees who are being posted in area, he urged them to be in the station and serve the people, reminding them that they are the most enlightened people of the area who can bring impact through their services.
Director of Horticulture and MIDH, Dr. Elithung Lotha while interacting with the public said that to uplift the horticulture landscape of the area, the department provides logistic as well as technical know –how for the benefit of the people.
Various department heads from the state, district and sub-division, who accompanied the advisor, also shared the department schemes and policy and urged the public to avail the opportunity for self- dependency.
The advisors also inspected the Aree old and new abandoned Primary Health Centre building.
Earlier in the day, Advisor Horticulture made a brief stoppage at Doyang reservoir before embarking on his maiden tour. Briefing his entourage who were mostly government officials from different departments, he urged them to come forward and extend cooperation on implementing government policies and programmes to take the constituency and district forward.

Okotso honours legislator
Okotso village organised a felicitation programme for its legislator at Pansosi, Okotso village.
During the programme, the advisor thanked the villagers for their support and electing him to represent the constituency.
As an elected member of the area, he said he will give his best and work with utmost sincerity and dedication for the uplift of the area.
Stating that Okotso village is one of the front runners among the Lothas, Yanthan urged them to work in unity and set good examples for others.
On education, the advisor said the community should take the responsibility in arranging proper accommodation for teachers posted in their respective areas so that they can give their best in giving quality education to the students.
