Hornbill badminton championship underway

[caption id="attachment_221989" align="alignnone" width="550"] Players of different categories in action during the ongoing match at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Officers’ Hill in Kohima on Thursday Dec. 6.[/caption] Kohima, Dec. 6: The second day semi final of the 1st edition of Hornbill Badminton Championship got underway at the Indoor Badminton Stadium in Officers’ Hill, Kohima, on December 6. The event was organised by Quest (B) Club and Crescent Club under the aegis of Nagaland Badminton Association and supported by the Tourism Department. It was launched on December 5 and would continue till December 7. The championship has been organised in seven categories namely men’s singles and doubles, women’s singles, mixed doubles, 75+ men’s doubles, 85+ men’s double, and 95+ men’s doubles. Altogether 65 players have registered to participate in the tournament. On Thursday’s semi final matches, two competitors, individual as well as team from seven categories have been chosen for the finals. The selected players would be playing the finals at 3 pm on December 7. The selected players are: Men Singles: Riku Khape versus Bentilo Kath Women’s singles: Erenbeni P Lotha versus Ehumyala Men doubles: Joseph Sumi and Raju Chetri versus Salang Jamir and Imlong Jamir Mixed doubles: Medemnochet Changkiri and Chubanungla Jamir versus Watinaro and KIlangkumba 75+ men doubles: Raju Chetri and I Along Jamir versus Moatemjen and Molong 85+ men double:  I Temjen Ao and Along Jamir versus Arep Ao and Joseph Sumi 95+ men double: Nochet and Arep Ao versus I Temjen Ao and Molung
