Hongphoi students observe youth fest

Dimapur, Jan. 15: A two-day youth fest cum career counselling, organised by the Hongphoi Students’ Union (HSU) was held on January 12 and 13 January in Hongphoi village. The programme was sponsored by World Vision India, Mon division, on the theme “Celebrating youth aspirations.”

Experiential learning through games was led by Pongjei Konyak, secretary of KBBB Sunday School, while the technical session was facilitated by Wangjin Konyak, Associate Professor Wangkhao College, Mon.

Wangjin stressed mainly on the exploration stage (14-25 years) so that they have the right perspective for their careers. He said central universities could be the best pick for higher studies as they offer the best education with fewer expenses besides scholarship facilities.

Temjen Sangtam, coordinator of development facilitation, World Vision India, Mon, facilitated the brainstorming session on education and assay writing exercise on the topic ‘My dream village.’

Literary programme and talent expo cum freshers’ night was also held to give a perspective to the students. Altogether, 177 students attended the programme.

Geihwang and Atai were the comperes, while the keynote address was delivered by HSU president, Daniel, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Chingring, HSU general secretary.

It may be mentioned here that World Vision India is a Christian grassroots humanitarian organisation working for development, relief and advocacy to create lasting change in the lives of children, their families and communities living in poverty and injustice. World Vision serves all people regardless of religion, caste, race, ethnicity or gender.
