Homestay training held in Mon

Dimapur, Oct 10 (EMN): A homestay training, organised by YouthNet, in collaboration with I Love My Mon Town (ILMMT) and Alder Tours and Travels under National Skill Development Corporation on the theme ‘Transforming the skill landscape’ began on October 10 at District Executive Hall, DC’s office complex, Mon.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Yanithung N Ngullie, EAC, Mon, termed Mon as one of the most important districts for tourist destination due to its rich cultural and traditional values. He has termed such training as need of the hour in order to solve unemployment problems. Attributing that Nagas are known for their hospitality, he has urged to improvise ‘home stay’ facilities in order to attract tourists.
He also advised the trainees to be attentive and complete the full course and obtain the certificate of National Skill Development Corporation so that they can make a future for themselves.
Neingusel Luho, from YouthNet, has lamented on lack of good hotels in Mon despite possessing all potentials to attract tourists. In this regard, he has suggested setting up home stay for the benefit of both tourists and the local populace.
Kejaroko Pieru, Alder Tour & Travel, said home stay training is first of its kind in Nagaland. Stating that foreign tourists love to get firsthand experience by practically involving in everything that the locals do, he said such opportunity could be offered only when the local people are trained and prepared to let the tourist stays in their homes. He further stated that home stay will not only generate income but also ensure meeting different people of the world.
During the course of the training, the trainees will be taught on basic of tourism, tourist and home stay, marketing home stay, creating home stay and relevant system, safety and health, communication skills, basic of computer, handling different types of social media, option of finance, budgeting and finance, entrepreneurship and soft skills, F&B services, cleanliness and hygiene, housekeeping service and customer service.
Altogether 30 trainees have been selected out of hundred applicants.
The program was chaired by T Chingmei Konyak, member ILMMT, while the welcome address was delivered by Dr. Chenjei Konyak, member ILMMT.
