Holy Cross makes off with inter-school quiz’s top prize

Dimapur, April 21 (EMN): In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of a local school in Dimapur, Christian Higher Secondary School, an inter-school quiz competition was conducted on April 21 at the school’s Covenant Hall. The event was co-sponsored by Macmillan Sponsors and Prachi (India) Pvt. Ltd.

Assistant Commissioner of Dimapur Ajit Kumar Ranjan (IAS) delivered a short speech, exhorting the students. It was only for two purposes that he enjoyed his school days: his first interest was in sports and the secondly his interest in quiz, he said. He often left aside other activities including studies as ‘side activity,’ he said.

Ranjan spoke about his passion and great love for history although he said to possess a degree in economics. This is the age of school and college drop-outs ‘who without having degrees achieve success in life by simply using innovative ideas and skills.’ He cited billionaire Bill Gates who with his technological innovation became one of the richest persons in the world.

Also, the chief guest talked about the power of ‘humans to rule the world through curiosity which he said made human have special abilities to know and understand.’ This, he said, made humans more advanced unlike animals.

Students from 19 schools participated in the inter-school quiz competition. The six finalists were Maple Tree School, Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, Livingstone Higher Secondary School, Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Christian Higher Secondary School and Kendriya Vidyalaya.

Holy Cross Higher Secondary School took the competition by surprise scoring the highest at the end of the competition. It bagged the first position followed by Kendriya Vidyalaya in the second position and Maple Tree at third.

Vice Principal of Christian Higher secondary School Patricia Zhimomi thank the Pearson company for presenting the Quiz master. Zhimomi took the privilege of welcoming the man of action Ajay Poonia,co founder of www.qryptiq.com a young exuberant and entertaining quizmaster and an avid quizzer too and has conducted several corporate, college and school quizzes all over the country.

Quiz master Ajay has also hosted 3 seasons of a national level inter school for HistoryTV video and 2 seasons of AIMA’s National Management Quiz for Corporates and has been hosting quizzes for over 6 years for clients like, ITC, Tata Steel, Sail, Hero MotoCorp, HPCL,JSPL, HMSI, JSW, Maruti Suzuki, Powergrid, EIL, IIM-Calcutta, ISB, IIT-Roorkee, ITT-Indore and many more.
