Hokivi Chishi laid to rest amidst rich tributes

Dimapur, August 5 (EMN): Hokivi Chishi, the president of Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) who passed away at Eden Medical Centre in Dimapur on August 4 after a brief illness was laid to rest at his residence, at Sematilla, Dimapur on Saturday.
Thousands of mourners thronged the private residence of late Chishi to pay their last respects to the well-known leader who passed away at the age of 51.
Parliamentary secretary for Irrigation and Flood Control, Tovihoto Ayemi, recollecting the time when they both joined NPF together in the year 2003, described Chishi as ‘a man of word, principle and integrity’ besides being a very good human being who worked tirelessly whenever there was a need for the down-trodden, minorities and youth.
Ayemi remembered late Chishi as a compassionate person who would see every situation from both sides before making a judgement, a generous person who was involved in many organisations and aspired to bring reforms and changes to the society. In his farewell address, Ayemi called upon the mourners to follow the exemplary life of late Chishi.
The funeral service was ministered by Zutovi Village Baptist Church pastor Rev Shitovi Swu while Dr Hesheto Chishi conducted the funeral service.
Born to Henevi and Kheshevi Chishi on September 28, 1965 at Saghemi village Zunheboto district, late Hokivi Chishi moved to Sematilla colony Dimapur in 2008 and served as member of Sematilla Council. Chishi was also the president of New Market Business Owners’ Association (NMBOA), Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI), advisor to Business Association of Nagas (BAN), chief patron of Dimapur Motor Sports Club and founding member of Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) movement till his last breath.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter and two sons.
