Hockey players from Manipur honoured

IMPHAL, August 30: India’s the then favourite striker in International hockey arena and Olympian, Kshetrimayum Thoiba Singh led Manipur Hockey here felicitated the four state hockey players who represents Indian hockey teams in recently concluded Rio Olympics.
The four players are Indian women hockey team captain P Sushila,T Anuradha and men’s team players Th Kothajit and Chinglensana. Most of the speakers including Hockey India Executive member Gyanendra Ningombam in the day’s felicitation lauded the performances of the talented players from Manipur in International arena. However they expressed the need to work hard for the team coordination.

In regards to team coordination, Kothajit accepted the challenges currently being faced by the Indian players in comparison with other well trained International teams in the recently concluded Olympic matches.
The day’s felicitation comes to an end with a delicious traditional non-vegetarian Manipuri feast which includes four mouth watering fish dishes.
Earlier the four players were accorded hero’s welcome on their arrival at Imphal International airport on August 19.
It may be mentioned that state government had decided to award cash prize of Rs 50 lakh each for every Olympic participants. This time Manipur has as many as six participants in the Olympics. The remain two participants are L Bombayla(Archery) and S Mirabai (Weightlifting).
