Hardcore self-styled NSCN(IM) cadre apprehended in Arunachal

Dimapur, April 14 (EMN): In the present heightened security situation, the security forces under DAO division has been carrying out extensive operations in south of Arunachal Pradesh to keep the area peaceful and out of clutches of insurgents.

A press release issued by the Press Information Bureau (Defence Wing) on April 13 mentioned that the Security Forces undertook an operation at Laptang area of Tirap District on April 13 and apprehended a ‘self-styled’ second Lieutenant Khampai Wangsu of NSCN(IM).

The release stated that the apprehendee is a hardcore cadre and was said to have been terrorizing people to extort money from the locals.

The cadre was nabbed with pistol and ammunition, the release stated.

During interrogation he revealed that he was trying to carry out extortion from locals and businessmen of Laptang area. The cadre was recruited by the banned outfit in August 2012 and was wanted by the police for a number of cases including murder and extortion, the release further stated.
