Hakhizhe honoured for Amur Falcon conservation

Dimapur, Nov. 13 (EMN): Hakhizhe village in Dimapur district was conferred with a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ in recognition of their commitment to provide refuge and safe passage to Amur Falcons during their annual migration through Nagaland. The Certificate of Appreciation was awarded by the United Nations Environment Programme, C/o Environment Agency Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the convention of Migratory Species Office, Abu Dhabi UAE.
In a brief programme held at Hakhize village commemorating one year of the tagging of the bird “Hakhizhe,” the certificate was handed over to the villagers by Dr. Suresh Kumar from Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. SP Tripathy, PCCF & Chief Wildlife Warden; K Caroline Angami, Wildlife Warden, Dimapur, and Bokato Sema, Forest Ranger under Niuland Range, were present in the programme.
The programme was chaired by Kakheto, JFMC president, who also apprised the department on the difficulties faced by the villagers.
SP Tripathy has assured all possible assistance from the department at the roosting site. K Caroline Angami also exhorted the gathering.
