GSSS seeks support for Gorkhaland

Dimapur, Nov. 11 (EMN): National spokesperson of Gorkhaland Sanyukta Sangharsh Samity (GSSS), Anjali Sharma Bhujel said that Gorkhaland issue is not only confined for the Gorkhas of Darjeeling but for the Gorkhas spread throughout the country India and added that the demand for Gorkhaland needs to have a futuristic approach.
She said this during a coordination meeting of GSSS with the Gorkhas of Nagaland under the aegis of Nagaland Gorkha Association (NGA) at Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) hall in Chandmari, Kohima, on November 10. The coordination meeting was attended by Gorkha representatives from Kohima, Mokokchung, Dimapur and Wokha districts along with the sister organisations under GPPK.
Seeking support and cooperation of the Gorkhas in Nagaland towards achieving the aspirations of the Gorkhas in India, she said, “We have to unitedly taken up the Gorkhaland issue at the national level and not just regional.”
“Government of India will not be able to ignore the national level movement, and therefore we need to knit a common thread and sent a strong message to Government of India and Government of West Bengal that Gorkhas will continue to protect our pride and rights.
“We will not remain silent unless and until we achieve the aspiration of the Gorkhas,” she affirmed, adding that granting Gorkhaland will only be beneficial to India as a nation.
Anjali also informed that GSSS is spearheading ‘Sansad March’ to let the voice of the Gorkhas be heard by the 435 Members of Parliament during the Winter Session of the Parliament. For this, she urged upon the Nagaland Gorkhas to extend all possible by joining the march.
Anjali was accompanied by GSSS general secretary Binita Lepcha along with members Yogesh Das and Lazing Tamang. The GSSS delegation was highly appreciative of the unity displayed by the Nagaland gorkhas.
Former NGA president, RN Lama, also exhorted the gathering while NGA president in his chairman’s remarks expressed gratitude and said that Nagaland Gorkhas were honoured by the faith the visiting team reposed on them and assured them of all cooperation in their struggle for Gorkhaland.
GPPK president, Santu Thapa, delivered the welcome address and NGA general secretary, Prem Kumar Thapa, tendered the vote of thanks.
