Green vendors in Mokokchung avail free medical services

Mokokchung, May 15 (EMN): Green vendors in Mokokchung were given free medical services by the district’s health establishment as part of an initiative by a community women organisation.
Approximately 200 vegetable vendors at the Watsu Wednesday Bazaar in Mokokchung availed free medical treatment during a medical camp that was conducted at the MMC shopping complex, on May 15 in Mokokchung.

The medical camp for the vendors was initiated by the apex Ao women’s organisation Watsu Mundang in collaboration with other community agencies and health establishments.

The day-long health clinic was conducted under the supervision of three physicians, aided by six nurses, a lab technician and a pharmacist.

The physicians at the camp informed that health problems such as musculoskeletal pain, anaemia, colitis and neuritis etc., were the most common ailments the vendors there were found to have.

The Watsu Mundang’s leaders have expressed gratitude to the establishment of the Mokokchung chief medical officer for providing resources and manpower for the health camp.

They also lauded the medical personnel and nongovernmental organisations contributed to the event or exerted efforts for the treatment of the green vendors, and for the free medicines that were given to the vendors.

The health camp was organised in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society of Mokokchung, Rotary Club of Mokokchung, Urban Primary Health Centre of Mokokchung; and the medical establishments such as the ICTC, Malaria and MMU.

The day-long health clinic was conducted under the supervision of three physicians, and assisted by around six nurses, a laboratory technician and a pharmacist.

The camp recorded the ‘highest number of patients’ to be treated during an ‘outreach medical camp,’ according to the physicians at the health event.
