NSCN(KK ) has alleged that 32 Assam Rifles has been rampantly raiding the houses of its cadres and harassing their family members physically and mentally since Tuesday, and demanded that the ceasefire ground rules be adhered to by all parties.
Narrating the incidents, Ministry of Information & Publicity, GPRN/NSCN
in a statement today said, “On 25th August, at 03:00 in the morning, the 32 Assam rifles raided the residence of Tokato Achumi, a Deputy secretary of the GPRN/NSCN which went on till 04:00 in the morning. During the raid, the Indian army personnel harassed the father of Tokato by toppling everything in his room, leaving his siblings sleepless and tortured mentally. The army personnel did not find anything object or documents incriminating or that would prove Tokato of crime or anything as such. It only resulted in mental and emotional harassment to him and his family.”
Further, the statement said, “Then on the 27th of August, the same Indian armies went and raided the residence of Colonel Kiyehe Yeptho, who is at present out of town undergoing medical treatment. Even after his wife begged the Armies that her husband was not at home or in town, they harassed her and her young kids. Finding nothing even after searching every nook and corner of the house, the Indian armies left, but not without another case of leaving the wife and young children scared, helpless and insecure.”
“The reason is not yet known for the raids, but this certainly has put doubts on the minds of the GPRN/NSCN and its members as to why the frequent frisking and taking away of our members have been taking place without proof and evidences on the involvement of activities unfavourable to the so called law-keepers.”
Expressing serious concern over frequent frisking and raiding on its members’ residences, the statement said, the mental and physical harassment meted out to their family members cannot just be left ignored.
“It is of a vital issue such rampant raids to the national workers’ residences be stopped. That ceasefire ground rules be thoroughly studied and implemented by all parties, thus to avoid any untold mishaps that may happen during your ignorant raids in the middle of the night and wee hours of the morning,” the statement said.
