Dimapur, Jan. 21: The first monthly meeting of state departmental chiefs for the year 2017 was held on January 20 in Kohima town. Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar IAS presided over the meeting, a DIPR report stated on Saturday.
Principal Secretary Menukhol John, the committee convenor for examination of proposals from the Legislators’ Forum on AIDS and the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), said that the submitted proposals were to cover a ‘gap of activities,’ according to the DIPR. He said that the proposal given by the NSACS was a ‘modest realistic one.’
The officials were also informed that an online payment facility has been made available to Dimapur, Chumukedima and Kohima. It will be made available to all other districts as well. The PHE department has also introduced a computerized water billing system which was launched in Kohima in October 2016 as informed by the secretary for the PHE. The water tax payment facility, through banks, will be operational from March 31. Online payment will also be taken up with the help of the IT department, likely to start at Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung and Zunheboto. It will be replicated in the other districts as well, the meeting was informed. Computerized billing and online payment systems will be operational in all the four districts in 2017 and 2018 as informed.
Also, the commissioner of Taxes gave a Power Point presentation. The commissioner said that Nagaland was the first state in the north east region to get entry for dealers in Goods and Services Tax (GST), the DIPR stated. Further, Nagaland is the first state for e-registration, with PAN, e-return etc., it was informed. GST in Nagaland has 50% enrolment status, the highest among the north east states.
On the New Pension Scheme, Chief Secretary Kumar said that the departments have to be serious with the issue and do the needful at the earliest. He directed the departments, which have not yet credited accounts, to give ‘clear cut figures and complete the works at the earliest time.’
During the meeting, Commissioner & Secretary KD Vizo said that Nagaland was the first state to “take over the state portal which has made a landmark for the state,” the DIPR stated. The State Data Centre, State e-Governance Society ISO, the National Infrastructure Project, the 7-state Ministry website, Nagaland State Itanagar Society Area Network, IT&C Digital village, and the Common Service Centre are “some important achievements for the department,” he asserted.
Also, Vizo informed that the state has “got calculation of business process from UK” and have already “empanelled” 18 firms, according to the DIPR. Policy guidelines for IT products can be disposed off though auction, he said. Enterprise architecture is also another achievement, he added.
Further, KD Vizo said that Nagaland was one of the best performing states in the northeast “in the field of information technology” and it has been “recognized for rigorous screening with three other states including Rajasthan, Telangana and Orissa.”
